In normal waking consciousness, especially during the day, we are having far more thoughts and subtle sensations than we notice. Our mind has been evolved and conditioned to ignore most of these transient thoughts and sensations, even if noticing them would make us feel better, in order to keep us functioning and remembering our personal story

  • It is easier to function in common jobs by running conditioned programs in our minds than to be constantly in awe and confusion at how complex consciousness and life are

There may be a stage in your meditation practice, maybe months from now, where you may feel that meditation is actually making your mind race more. This is temporary, and is mostly because you are suddenly realizing how busy your mind has been in the background. Our minds are typically filtered in a way that makes us aware of only the most pressing relevant ideas in regards to our work, survival, and relationship. Beneath that filter is an ocean of infinitely connected thoughts and feelings in any given moment. Meditation will shine a light on that ocean, which may feel shocking at first. But as your “witness” perspective gets stronger, through noting your thoughts, the energy will settle and you’ll feel quieter inside.

here are some notes and brainstorms. this page is temporary and may be deleted and changed at any time, so take note of anything that speaks to you.

Topics to cover - it is actually wise to allow yourself to be imperfectly human, and have triggers and pet peeves, because it allows you to connect and understand others more. Do not force yourself to always be perfectly equanimous or kind.
